About this event
Join the National Constitution Center and the Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS) for a full-day professional learning workshop exploring the powerful role of federalism in American government through the unique history of Nebraska. Participating teachers will begin the workshop with an overview of the role federalism has played in American history, from the Founding era to today, using the Center’s nonpartisan educational framework. Participants will then do a deep dive on stories from Nebraska’s history highlighting the state’s role as a laboratory of democracy, including the shift to a unicameral legislature.
A full overview of resources from the Center and NSHS will be made available, with participants leaving the workshop with a deeper understanding of Nebraska history and the balance of power between the state and national governments, along with practical strategies for their students to thoughtfully engage with this topic.
